March 9th, 2011

Straight from the Academy Awards Viewing Party we held at Cedar Park Church on Feb 27th, I invite you to grab a drink, sit back for about 25 minutes and check out the presentation I gave before the telecast started.

Here it is, in two parts. Enjoy and feel free to keep the dialogue going with your own comments.

  1. Other classic 'arm-open' scenes:
The escape scene at the end of Shawshank Redemption.
Twice in the Matrix trilogy, when Neo first learns to dodge bullets on the rooftop and also his death (sacrifice) at the end of the third film.
The girl lying on the bed of rose petals in American Beauty.
    Braveheart surrendering to the English.
Before and after arena battles in Gladiator.

Really enjoyed the Speilberg interview. Very interesting talk Ken.

  2. Thanks Lee! Great additions to the 'arm-open' scenes. It happens all the time, I tell ya.

I realized after my presentation that 'The Great Muppet Caper' and 'Muppets Take Manhattan' should have really been up there too with my childhood movies. (maybe even replacing 'Gremlins' and 'The Lost Boys'...but it's a toss-up when you're trying to fill the exact space on the slide)
